| Why Climb the Himalayas? |
|
Himalayas
are the greatest physical feature of the earth. In mass
greater than all the mountains in Europe including Caucasus
put together. In between, it has massifs like Nanda
Devi, (25645 ft), Dhaulagiri ( 26,795 ft), Annapurna
(26,490 ft), Mount Everest (29,128 ft), Kanchenjunga
(28,146 ft). |

| It has three
peaks above over 28,000 ft, more than 20 peaks, over 26,000
ft, Fifty peaks above 25,000 ft, over 100 peaks above
24,000 ft and about 200 peaks are over 23,000 ft, (approx.
7000mts). Many of these are still to be climbed. |

The Founding Director of MHE, Col. N. Kumar (Bull),
is a legend in Indian mountaineering. Bull has led
numerous Himalayan Expeditions which include Mt. Everest
(Deputy Leader), Kanchenjunga, Trisul, Saltoro Kangri,
Sia Kangri, Chomalhari, Bhutan, amongst many others.
He has also held prestigious positions as Principal
of the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Darjeeling
and the Indian Institute of Skiing and Mountaineering,
Kashmir.
