Safari to Eastern Karakoram and Nubra Valley
Trip Highlights
Drive over the Second Highest Motorable Road in the World leading into the Nubra Valley. You get to travel along the Silk Route that was used by traders to travel to Central Asia from India. The altitudes are high and therefore a few extra days in Leh are advised in order to acclimatize. The Khardungla Pass is over 18,000 feet and not surprisingly the views are spectacular from the pass.

Day by Day Itinerary
DAY 01: New Delhi-Leh
Fly from Delhi to Leh in the morning. Check into one of the best hotels in Leh. It is advisable to spend an extra day in Leh to acclimatize
DAY 02: Leh
DAY 03: Leh-Hunder
Drive from Leh to the Nubra Valley over the Khardung La pass (5484 Mts.), the highest road in the world. Part of the drive is over a glacier. There are great views of the Karakoram Mountains from the top. Camp at Hunder.
DAY 04: Hunder-Diskit-Panamik
Visit Hunder and Diskit Gompas and then drive to Panamik, crossing the River Shyok and then driving along the River Nubra to Panamik. Panamik is the last village on the old Silk Route and was favored for its hot water springs.
DAY 05: Panamik-Leh
Leave after breakfast and drive back to Leh over the Khardung La Pass. Enroute visit Taeger and Samsthaling Gompas. Overnight in hotel in Leh.
DAY 06: Leh-New Delhi
Board the early morning flight to Delhi.
