Day by Day Itinerary
DAY 01: New Delhi - Leh
DAY 02: Leh - Tangtse
Drive approximately 6 hours to Tangtse over the Chang La Pass (5335 Mts.) which is also the highest motorable road in the World. Overnight at Camp.
DAY 03: Tangtse - Lukung
Drive approximately 3 hours to the lovely camping grounds at Lukung. The camp is in the north western end of the Pangong Tso Lake in the Chang Chominu Valley. Overnight in Camp.
DAY 04: Lukung - Visit the Pangong Tso Lake.
Full day to explore around the Pangong Tso lake .There are a lot of rare birds and wild animals in the vicinity. The Lake at 14,500 ft is the largest in Asia and its waters stretch for more than 100 Kms from China, Tibet to India. Overnight in Camp.
DAY 05: Lukung - Tangtse
Drive back from Lukung to Tangtse and camp for the night.
DAY 06: Tangtse - Chumathang Drive back over Chang La to Chumathang via Karu
The drive takes about 7 hours. Chumathang is a small village on the banks of the River Indus and is famous for its hot sulphur springs.
DAY 07: Chumathang - Karzok
This scenic drive through the barren and desert landscape is breathtaking. The region is occasionally inhabited by nomadic shepherds called Changpas. This area is also rich in wildlife. One should spot Wild Ass, Himalayan Foxes and sometimes even the elusive Snow Leopard. Karzok is a remote Village of about 100 families. Karzok is 1 km from the lake and has a impressive monastery overlooking the lake. Overnight in tented Camps .
DAY 08: Karzok
Relax and explore Tso Moriri Lake. The lake is a breeding ground for rare Black Necked Cranes and Bar Headed Geese. The lake is nestled in the midst of 20,000-ft high peaks.
DAY 09: Karzok - Sumdo - Tsokar
Drive via the village at Sumdo to Tso Kar (White Lake). Enroute you will pass the Pofa valley and drive over the 4500m Polokomkola pass. It is called the White Lake because of the salt deposits around the lake. It is also a haven for migrating birds. Overnight in camp.
DAY 10: Tso Kar-Leh
Depart from Tso Kar and join the main Manali leh highway after 4 kms at Dehrung. Climb over the Taglang La Pass and drop into the Indus Valley. Drive back to leh overnight in hotel .
DAY 11 : FLIGHT TO DELHI
