From July 10th 2007 Mercury Himalayan Explorations (MHE) starts its rafting operations for the season down the Kundalika river - just 2.5 hours drive from Mumbai and Pune. Established
in 1982, MHE is an associate company of Mercury Travels
and the Oberoi Group of Hotels. Our adventure travel operations
span across the entire length of the Indian Himalayas.
In addition to our rafting expeditions on more than 14
rivers all over India we also run permanent luxury camps
in Shivpuri (Rishikesh), Tons (Garhwal) and Uletokpo (Ladakh).
The Kundalika is located in the virgin forests below the
Mulshi and Bhira Dams. Located 120 Kms from Mumbai and
100 Kms from Pune, this river is ideally located for short
overnight or day trips. A one and a half hour run down
a 14 Kms exciting stretch with grade II and III rapids
promises to give an exciting, wet and wild run to all
rafters. |

How to Get There ? |

Our start point is located on the Shajey Village below the Bhira Dam. |

From Mumbai (138 Kms)
Take the NH 17 Goa Road till Kolad. 1 Km after the Kolad Market turn left on the SH 60 to Pune. From here it is 8 Kms to Sutarwadi (MHE site office) and another 8 Kms to left turn for the Shajey Village, our starting point.
From Pune (100 Kms)
Take road to Mulshi Dam and drop down the ghats till turn off to Shajey Village, our starting point.

Our rafting trips start at 8 AM and 1 PM every day. Since the water flow is controlled by the Bhira dam, we must start our rafting on schedule or face the possibility of trip cancellation due to lack of water flow. Please report at the start point
at least 15 minutes before the start time. |

Who can raft? |
|
| |
Almost everybody other than pregnant ladies, heart patients and people with severe asthma. Children between 12 and 14 may be permitted to raft on certain sections of the river, subject to a safety clearance from our river guides. Our river guide’s decision in this regard will be final. Children below 12 years are not allowed to raft. |

What to bring? |

- T Shirts and Shorts for rafting. Also bring sport shoes or floaters as foot wear.
- A change of dry clothes and a towel.
- Light warm clothes in case you are camping with us.
